Title:Driving a stepper motor in microstepping mode with Arduino microcontroller
Abstract:In this report the control of bipolar stepper motor with manufacturer part number: 14HM11-0404S is presented. The motor is driven by the DC L298N motor driver in form of PCB board by the Arduino Uno microcontroller. The main goal is to achieve more steps that stepper motor has by its basic hardware. It can achieve 400 steps per full revolution, but with the micro step operation it is going to be capable of making 6400 steps per full revolution, thereby improving the resolution by sixteen times compared to a normal operation, which leads to very accurate positioning. In my report I will present how stepping logic is applied, different ways of controlling stepper motor and results of measurements of current through the single coils of the motor, displayed on oscilloscope and add comments on the final results.
Keywords:driving a stepper motor, microstepping, step sequence of stepper motor, driving a stepper motor in full and half step mode
