Abstract:Živimo v času obsežnih premikov prebivalstva oziroma ogromnih valov migracijskih tokov proti Evropi.

Title:The integration of migrant children in the slovenian primary school
Abstract:We live in times of widespread movements of populations or vast waves of migration flows towards Europe. Migrations are a global challenge faced by many countries, including Slovenia. In recent years, immigration has increased considerably which has in turn increased the number of newly arrived immigrant children enrolling in primary schools. This thesis deals with the integration of migrant children into Slovenian primary schools. Firstly, several definitions are explained that are often confused or difficult to distinguish in terms of basic differences between them, as well as some concepts that are essential in order to understand the subject. Secondly, a list of relevant documents is included, providing the legal basis for the education and schooling of foreign children. Principles and objectives of integrating migrant children using the model of intercultural education and schooling are also summarized and outlined. The primary focus was on Primary School 8 talcev Logatec, where interviews were conducted with the teachers who teach migrant children. It was concluded that those children find it difficult to integrate in the educational system, because they do not know the language and are therefore unable to follow the curriculum. However, they are kindly welcomed by their classmates and teachers who are doing their best to help them in the process
Keywords:migrations, newly arrived immigrant children, migrant children, refugee children, education, inter-culturalism, primary school.
