Abstract:V magistrski nalogi smo preverjali, ali sta trenda prodaje protimikrobnih zdravil za zdravljenje živali, namenjenih proizvodnji hrane in mikrobne odpornosti v živalih in živalskem tkivu, povezana. Zbrali in analizirali smo podatke o prometu s protimikrobnimi zdravili in odpornosti mikroorganizmov v Republiki Sloveniji od leta 2008 do leta 2013. V analizo smo vključili dva povzročitelja zoonoz (Salmonella, Campylobacter) in indikatorsko bakterijo (Escherichia coli, nepatogena). Regresijsko analizo smo izvedli v Excelu.

Title:Antimikrobial resistance in zoonotic agents isolated from animals and food in the Republic of Slovenia in the years from 2009 to 2013
Abstract:The objective of this master thesis was to check wether the trend of the sales of the antimicrobial agents for the treatment of food animals is related to the trend of the antimicrobial resistance in the animals and animal tissue. We gathered and analyzed data on the sale of antimicrobials and on the antimicrobial resistance in the Republic of Slovenia from the year 2008 to the year 2013. Two zoonotic agents (Salmonella, Campylobacter) and one indicator bacteria (Escherichia coli, non-pathogenic) were included. To process the acquired data we used SPSS and Excel. The chi-square analysis was used to show if the variables microbial resistance (yes, no) and sales (small, medium, large) are related. The regression analysis was conducted in Excel. Trend graphs (from 2008 to 2013) and dependency graphs of microbial resistance (%) and sales of antimicrobials (%) were performed. From the latter we got the coefficients of determination and converted them into the correlation coefficients. With the research we have found that in the Republic of Slovenia, despite the significant reduction in the sales of antimicrobials drugs in veterinary medicine in the years from 2008 to 2013, microbial resistance to antimicrobials in isolates from animal tissue and faecal matter did not diminish, in most cases it even increased or remained the same. Increase in the number of resistant microorganisms is probably due to the preservation and spread of resistance among microorganisms and those between animals.
