Abstract:Diplomsko delo govori o utopitvah ter preprečevanju teh.

Title:Drownings in slovenia - forms of prevention
Abstract:The diploma thesis speaks on drowning as well as its prevention. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, we presented which forms of drowning we know, how we prevent drowning to occur, how the first aid is provided to the drowned, what is statistics of drowning in Slovenia in swimming pools and natural swimming pools (sea, lake, river, etc.), and how this issues are encountered and confronted with in some other countries in the world. The purpose of the diploma thesis is to summarize in what way we confront with the mentioned issues in Slovenia, in what way they are confronted with them abroad, to check the opinion of the population of Slovenia about the mentioned issues, and see, where is still some room for the improvement in this field, and the reduction of the number of the drowned. The research showed that a lot of persons trust lifeguards, especially persons who come from the central and eastern part of Slovenia. By means of the research, I also found out that a lot of people believe that they would be capable of providing the first aid to the drowned. However, later it turns out that people should be more aware of this topic after all. In Slovenia, we are in the right way with respect to the swimming courses in daycare units and in elementary schools, for these courses are supported by a great majority of people. I believe that this is an excellent way for the prevention of drowning among children.
