Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča. Sklep. Vsako obdobje življenja je pomembno, rojstvo otroka in njegovo prvo leto pa še toliko bolj, saj takrat otrok najhitreje raste in se razvija. Ker je še majhen in nezmožen poskrbeti zase, mu pri tem pomagajo starši s pomočjo medicinske sestre in celotnega tima v dispanzerju za otroke. Odgovornost in skrb za otrokov razvoj je zagotovo prioriteta sodobne družbe.

Title:GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN UP TO SIX MONTHS OF AGE
Abstract:Theoretical basis. Every child is different; every child is a unique and unrepeatable personality. Children need – among other things - adequate nutrition for a normal growth and development. For a newborn this is off course breastfeeding. Child's advancement in growth and development is monitored at every general health check-up and every time a child gets vaccinated at a children's clinic. There the role of a nurse is of great importance. Research methodology. We used descriptive work method in this thesis. The interview technique was used in the case study. The open type questions were related to establishing the needs for a medical care in the set of fourteen basic human activities by Virginia Henderson. Results. A baby girl and her parents were involved in the study. We established that parents are satisfied with the information provided by the paediatrician; they also trust and follow the latter's advice. The pregnancy lasted without any problems, breast-feeding began immediately and the girl is vaccinated according to program. Conclusion. Every part of a life is important – especially the birth of a baby and its first year. This is the time when it grows and develops at the fastest rate. Because the baby is still small and unable to take care for itself, parents are there to help it with the help of a nurse and the whole team at the children's clinic. The responsibility and care for the baby's development are certainly a priority of a modern society.
