Abstract:V 15. stoletju so se pričele razmere v Evropi spreminjati, saj je prihajalo do razpadanja starega sistema in pričeli so se kazati zametki modernih državnih struktur. Portugalci in Španci so pričeli z odkrivanjem novih pomorskih poti v Azijo in s tem so odkrivali tudi nova neodkrita ozemlja.

Title:THE PRESENCE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN FAR EAST ASIA UNTIL EARLY 17TH CENTURY
Abstract:The situation in Europe began to change in the 15th century. The old system started to disintegrate and the beginnings of modern state structures began to show. Portuguese and Spaniards began with the discovery of new sea routes to Asia, thereby they also discovered new undiscovered territories. For their discoveries and later settlement the Catholic Church stood on their side as moral support as well as a formal tutor. This thesis presents a Catholic missionary activity and the Christianization of Asia - precisely in India, Japan and China in the 16th century and until the beginning of the 17th century. Such actions of the Jesuits, the leading religious communities of Catholicism in this Christianization, are specifically described. The Jesuits introduced new methods in the Christianization. Their member - a pioneer of missionary work in Asia, Francis Xavier, was in the forefront and he was an innovator of these methods. His successors, Valignano Alessandro and Matteo Ricci, also had a major role in the functioning of Jesuit missionaries.
