Abstract:
V diplomskem delu z naslovom Kmetijsko izrazje v žetalskem govoru sem najprej predstavila geografske, zgodovinske in kulturne značilnosti kraja Žetale. Nato sem natančneje prikazala glasoslovne in oblikoslovne značilnosti žetalskega govora, ki ga slovenska dialektologija uvršča v panonsko narečno skupino, natačneje v haloško narečje. Poglavitni del diplomskega dela predstavlja zbiranje kmetijskega izrazja v Žetalah.

Title:
AGRICULTURAL TERMS IN ŽETALE
Abstract:
As an introduction to the thesis Agricultural Terms in Žetale I first present the geographical, historical and cultural characteristics of Žetale region. Then I show phonological and morphological features of Žetale speech in more detail, which according to Slovenian dialectology belongs to Pannonian dialect group, or to be more precise, Haloze dialect. The most important part of the thesis covers the collection of agricultural terms in Žetale. The material has been collected with the Questionnaire for Orchards, Gardens and Fields designed by Francka Benedik. The informant also provided various agricultural terms used both in the past and present. I have organized the words alphabetically in the form of a dictionary. The dictionary also covers old terms, slowly dying out and non-familiar to the present day speakers. There are 181 terms in the dictionary, most of them being nouns. First there is the standard entry followed by the written phonological equivalent in the dialect and its word class. Then there is the word meaning taken from the Dictionary of Standard Slovenian Language. Moreover, there is also a passage from the recorded dialect material with the term in use. The elementary agricultural terminology is Slovenian. Most of the words are not borrowed, howeverthe majority of loanwords come from German. This is probably the consequence of the past invasions of these regions or even further in the past, due to Slovenian-German connections when borrowing non-familiar terms from German took place. German language has also served as the vehicle for word borrowing from Romance languages with the least loanwords coming from Croatian language.
