Title:THE NOUN IN DAJNKO`S BIBLE STORIES OF THE NEW AND OLD LAW
Abstract:Peter Dajnko, a priest from the Eastern Styria (in Slovenia) and a linguist, a developer of the regional Slovenian literary language, played an important role at the development of Slovenian literary language in the third decade of the 19th century. By inventing the Dajnko alphabet (Slovene: dajnčica), which was used from 1824 to 1839, he decided to replace the Bohorič alphabet (Slovene: bohoričica). He wanted to improve the script by introducing the new writing system because of problems with writing the sibilants. Additionally, he introduced two special characters which he abandoned after 1829. He introduced his alphabet reform in his Grammar book Lehrbuch der windischen Sprache (English: The Textbook of the Slovene Language). About 50.000 copies were printed in the period of 15 years before the Dajnko alphabet came out of use
