Abstract:
Motnje hranjenja so nedvomno bolezen današnjega časa, čeprav so jih poznali že v preteklosti.

Title:
SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF ANOREXIA
Abstract:
Eating disorders are mental disorders, which reflect one's emotional and mental distress and lack of acceptance of one's self. Individual's identity is herein being lost due to adapting to modern society's ideals. Sociological aspects of eating disorders are displayed as a social manipulation of (mostly) women's bodies and as one of the main strategies portraying social relations and gender equality. It is possible to understand anorexia as a pathological crystallization of culture, as a social manipulation of women's bodies and as one of the ways of demonstrating power proportions between sexes. It is also eligible to analyze anorexia as a way of liberation from rising control of global food chains. Purpose of this dissertation was to present social view over anorexia and her consequences and also to portray contemporary issues of eating disorders amongst youngsters of modern society. This dissertation is based on the descriptive method of research work. Findings from selected theories are confronted and analyzed, as well as views of modern society and of a nurse, all on the subject of eating disorders. Eating disorders are undoubtedly diseases of today, although they have been known in the past as well. Expansion of eating disorders phenomenon can result from materialism and abundance of modern world's goods, however in our part of the world people are suffering from intense pressures, carried by their own ambitions, gaining assets, fashion trends, loneliness and other kinds of distress, which are consequences of hipper development. People are usually unaware of these burdens, only when they escalate and show as disturbances in our everyday lives, we tend to see them as a problem.
