Izničene so možnosti astronomskih opazovanj nočnega neba.
Keywords:svetlobno onesnaževanje, človeški in živalski bioritem, bleščanje, poraba električne energije, popolnoma zasenčene svetilke, degradacija naravnega okolja.

Title:LIGHT POLLUTION AT THE SLOVENIAN COASTAL- AND KARST REGION
Abstract:This thesis thoroughly explores light pollution, which environmentalists around the world have been dealing with for quite some time now. In Slovenia, however, this phenomenon has been a subject of research rather recently. Too much light exposure at night while sleeping can negatively affect the human body, but also the natural biorhythm of some nocturnal species whose existence depends on regular alternation of night and day. The moment when this cycle is being interrupted, the whole generation of endangered species, such as bats and others, tends to disappear. The disturbing effect of light pollution on traffic safety is mainly due to the increased light glare. Moreover, astronomical night sky observations are minimalised. Another significant parameter is an unnecessary excessive consumption of electric energy, which is the highest in December around Christmas time in Slovenia. Environmentalists are of the opinion that fully shielded lamps and their appropriate usage is the long-term solution against environmental degradation.
Keywords:light pollution, human and animal biorhythm, light glare, electric energy consumption, fully shielded lamps, environment degradation.
