Abstract:

Title:
NUTRIENTS AS APPLE FRUIT QUALITY REGULATORS
Abstract:
As a part of this diploma thesis, we monitored the development of chlorophyll and anthocyanin during ripening of 'Gala' apples in 2010 as a result of fertirrigation with fertilisers Kristalon, urea and Polyfeed. We monitored the development of chlorophyll and anthocyanin in fruit skin with a portable PA1101 spectrophotometer between 21 July and 8 September 2010. We performed our measurements on apples from apple trees fertirrigated with Kristalon, urea and Polyfeed and on non-fertirrigated apples. When spectral measurements were completed, we collected 20 fertirrigated apples and 20 non-fertirrigated apples and proceeded with destructive analysis in the laboratory to determine classical parameters of maturity (fruit flesh firmness, soluble solids, starch index). We established that fertirrigation did not have a statistically significant effect on NDVI and NAI colour parameters, even though NDVI values were higher for the fertirrigated apples. The opposite applies for NAI. With classical parameters of maturity, we also did not determine a statistically significant effect of fertirrigation.
