Abstract:V magistrski nalogi je obravnavana uporabnost neporušne merilne metode sprotnega merjenja električne upornosti med toplotnimi cikli za zasledovanje in karakterizacijo faznih sprememb.

Title:Monitoring of phase transformation in steels with in-situ electric resistance measurements
Abstract:In the master thesis the application of nondestructive method, based on continuous electrical resistivity measurement has been applied for monitoring of phase transformations in ferrous alloys. The results of "in-situ" measurements of changes in electrical resistivity were compared with metallographic analysis of steel samples taken before and after thermal cycling. At first the method was tested on steels which are commonly used in industry and have are fairly well known, thus simplifying the interpretation of the results. Later tests were conducted on new steels, developed at the Institute of Materials Technology at the Faculty of mechanical engineering. It has been established that there is a good correlation between the measurements of the electrical resistivity and metallographic analysis. Based on the obtained results we can conclude that the method is suitable for detecting critical temperatures and other processes during heat treatment. It also has advantages since it is applicable to wide variety of testing specimens and enables a better insight into processes, like carbon partitioning, which are difficult to monitor/detect using conventional methods.
