Abstract:	V prispevku so prikazani tipi zelenih površin v Mariboru in njihove funkcije. Uradne klasifikacije tipov zelenih površin so številne. Prav tako imajo zelene površine v mestih mnoge funkcije. Namen prispevka je prikazati stanje zelenih površin v mestu in njihovo varovanje. Žal je biotska raznovrstnost v mestih premalo varovana.

Title:	Green areas as a factor of environment quality in Maribor
Abstract:	In the article the type of green system and its function in Maribor is presented. There are many offical clasifications of green systems. The green system in the city has many functions. The aim of article is to show the situation of green system in the city and its protection. But the biodiversity in the city is not protected enough.
