Abstract:
Le-ta je vseboval 18 vprašanj zaprtega in odprtega tipa. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 15 medicinskih sester. Rezultati. Diskusija in zaključek.

Title:
MECHANICALLY VENTILATED NEWBORN INFECTED WITH RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS
Abstract:
Introduction: Infection of a newborn with respiratory sincytyal virus (hereinafter referred to as RSV) is a serious respiratory infection. With RSV infected newborn may need invasive mechanical ventilation, intensive treatment and 24-hour medical monitoring, due to worsening of respiratory distress and signs of exhaustion. Research methods. The research based on a quantitative research method. The data was acquired with the help of a questionnaire, which contained 18 questions of open and closed type. The questionnaire was filled by 15 nurses. Results: Based on the results, the team of nurses possesses enough knowledge about basic methods of mechanical ventilation. We discovered a lack of knowledge of hygiene measures on preventing an infection with RSV, especially by the lower respiratory tractaspiration, where none of the nurses uses protective goggles as means for prevention of infection. Discussion and conclusion: A nurse, as a member of the intensive care unit and therapy, is an expert on monitoring and nursing interventions of the newborns, which are infected with RSV and are on mechanical ventilation. A nurse is at the same time also responsible for taking measures on preventing an infection and its spreading. Therefore a great deal of expertise and a lot of experience, gained threw continuous professional education,is required.
