Abstract:Tema magistrske naloge je filmska pismenost pri učencih drugega in tretjega vzgojno-izobraževalnega obdobja. V teoretičnem delu smo predstavili pomen vzgoje, opismenjevanja človeka, vlogo filma in filmskega opismenjevanja.

Title:FILM LITERACY AMONG PUPILS OF THE SECOND AND THIRD EDUCATIONAL PERIOD
Abstract:The subject of this master’s thesis is Film Literacy among Pupils of the Second and Third Educational Period. In the theoretical part I introduced the importance of education, literacy education, the role of film and film literacy education. My focus was on film culture and education in Slovenia throughout time, and at the same time I focused on the realization of film education and literacy in the school curriculum. In the empirical part I wanted to find out the pupils’ point of view on film and film language, the established usage of films according to pupils, reasons for watching films, and last but not least, what kind of effect watching films has on pupils. In the process I was interested in the differences by grade and sex. My research was based on non-probability, convenience sample of pupils from 6th and 8th grade of the six elementary schools in Carinthia in the year of 2013-2014. As a metric accessory I used a survey questionnaire. The results showed that pupils’ attitude towards film is mostly positive, since most of the pupils like to watch films, both girls and boys. This positive attitude was confirmed by the results showing how pupils spend 1-2 hours per day during the week and 2-4 hours per day on the weekends solely on watching films. From the survey research results, I established that watching films often fills up the pupils’ free time and their family time. Film could be very useful as a teaching tool; even the pupils agree to a greater extent that they learn foreign languages by watching films and that films are useful for learning about the world and life.
