Abstract:

Title:
THE CONTENT OF SOLID PARTICLES DURING SECONDARY TREATMENT OF WASTEWATER
Abstract:
The aim of this master's work is to determine the content of solid particles in the process of purification of municipal wastewater in the water treatment plant. We wanted to compare the content of suspended and dissolved solids in municipal wastewater in the influent of the wastewater treatment plant, after the primary treatment and in the effluent. The results were compared with the results after the treatment in the membrane bioreactor (MBR). We measured the following physico-chemical parameters: pH, turbidity, conductivity, color, and the content of organic substances, expressed as COD. Based on the results of the physico-chemical parameters, we find out that, as expected, the opacity values, color, content of all the substances (TS), and the COD reduce during water treatment. An analysis of the solids particles content showed that the calculated values of the samples of wastewater after the primary treatemnt, where there is presence of 70% of soluble and 30% of suspended solids, were in line with the literature references. After the biological treatment there is about a 90% of soluble and 10% of suspended solids, while the latter, after the purification by MBR are completely removed. The study showed that a correlation between the content of total suspended solids and the COD is relatively low at all stages of the waste water treatment.
