Title:Prisotnost socialnega inženiringa v kibernetskem prostoru : diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija Informacijska varnost

Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava temo socialnega inženiringa in njegovo prisotnost tako v vsakdanjem življenju kot tudi v delovnem okolju. Teoretični del naloge tako opisuje socialni inženiring kot pogosto uporabljeno tehniko, ki izkorišča človeški faktor za pridobivanje podatkov. Predstavljeno je, zakaj je tako uspešen in kaj so glavni razlogi za njegovo uporabo, kako je videti potek napada s socialnim inženiringom in najpogosteje uporabljene metode socialnega inženiringa. Ker je socialni inženiring kot oblika napada skozi vsa leta ostal nespremenjen in je za razliko od ostalih možnih napadov na podatke, ki so predvsem tehnične narave, odvisen predvsem od človeških pomanjkljivosti in naravnih tendenc, se njegova uporaba veča. Dodatno k večanju uporabe socialnega inženiringa pripomore predvsem v zadnjem času pogosto uporabljena kombinacija socialnega inženiringa s tehničnimi grožnjami, kar metodo naredi zanimivo tudi za napadalce s tehničnim znanjem. Prav ta oblika napada pa zaradi svojega širokega delovanja počasi briše mejo med kibernetskim prostorom in resničnostjo, saj s prepletanjem tehničnih in netehničnih groženj kibernetski prostor premakne v resničnost in obratno. Poleg teoretične razlage socialnega inženiringa in njegove uporabe je drugi del diplomske naloge namenjen raziskavi, s katero smo ugotavljali poznavanje in prisotnost socialnega inženiringa. Podrobno so analizirani in opisani dobljeni rezultati, iz katerih so izpeljane končne ugotovitve.

Abstract:The diploma deals with the theme of social engineering and its presence both in everyday life as well as work environment. The theoretical part of the diploma describes social engineering as a frequently used technique, which exploits the human factor for obtaning data. It's presented why it is so successful and what are the main reasons for its use, how the progress of an attack with social engineering can be seen and the most commonly used methods of social engineering. Use of social engineering is increasing because as a mean of attack throughout the years remained unchanged and unlike other possible attacks on information which are primarily technical in nature, depends mainly on the natural human weaknesses and tendencies. In addition to the increasing use of social engineering mainly contributes the widely used combination of social engineering with technical threats, which makes the method interesting also for attackers with technical knowledge. Exactly this form of attack, because of its wide operating, slowly blurs the line between reality and cyber space, as a mix of technical and non-technical threats moves cyber space into reality and vice versa. In addition to the theoretical interpretation of social engineering and its application, the second part of the diploma is devoted to the study in which we assessed the understaning and presence of social engineering. The given results are thoroughly analyzed and descibed, from which we derived the final conclusions.
