Abstract:
Pri prevajanju književnih del, ki vsebujejo kulturnospecifične prvine, se od prevajalca zahteva zelo dobro poznavanje izvirne in ciljne kulture. Številni avtorji menijo, da je prevod pomemben dejavnik medsebojnega vplivanja med različnimi književnostmi. Književni prevod pa igra zelo pomembno vlogo v stiku in komunikaciji med različnimi kulturami. Magistrska naloga obravnava prevajanje kulturnospecifičnih prvin, ki se pojavljajo v romanu Elizabeth Gilbert Eat, Pray, Love. Alenka Razboršek je roman, s slovenskim naslovom »Jej, moli, ljubi«, prevedla leta 2009. V prevodu so zaradi prepletanja različnih specifičnih prvin posameznih kultur (ameriške, italijanske, indijske, indonezijske) uporabljene različne prevajalske strategije. Prav zaradi kulturno zaznamovanih elementov teh štirih kultur je zelo pogosta raba sposojenk, tujk, dodajanj in izpustov. Ker je bistvo, da bralci ciljnega jezika razumejo tudi druge kulture, je prevod delno podomačen. Glavni namen magistrske naloge je ugotoviti, ali so prevajalske strategije, ki so bile uporabljene v prevodu romana Eat, Pray, Love, vplivale na samo razumljivost prevoda.

TRANSLATION OF CULTURE-SPECIFIC ELEMENTS IN THE NOVEL "EAT, PRAY, LOVE"
Abstract:
When translating literary works that contain culture-specific elements, it is required that the translator has a good knowledge of the source and the target culture. Many authors believe that translation is an important factor in the interaction between various literatures. Literary translation is very important for contact and communication among different cultures. The master’s thesis focuses on the translation of culture-specific elements that appear in Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel Eat, Pray, Love. Alenka Razboršek translated the novel, with the Slovene title Jej, moli, ljubi, in 2009. Different translation strategies in the translation are used due to the interference between various specific elements of individual cultures (American, Italian, Indian and Indonesian). To transfer culture-specific elements of these four cultures the translator frequently used loan and foreign words, expansions and reductions. The translation is partly domesticated, as the purpose of the book is that the target language reader understands other cultures. The main purpose of the master's thesis is to determine, whether the translation strategies, used in the translation of the novel Eat, Pray, Love, affect the comprehensibility of the translation.
