(»Post and courier sector statistics – NACE Rev. 1.1« [Eurostat], b. d.). V današnjih časih, ko spletno nakupovanje povzroča več paketnih prevozov, postajajo cenovno ugodni in ekološko usmerjeni paketni prevozniki vse bolj pomembni.

Title:Courier and parcel distributors and their impact on the environment
Abstract:Climate has changed for natural reasons in the past and will continue to change in the future. What is alarming is the fact that the changes in climate that happened in the last one hundred years happened significantly too fast to be attributed to natural reasons. The truth is that in the last centuries the lifestyle of man changed dramatically. There has been a dramatic increase in the number of people; we have managed to develop technologies that are powered by fossil fuels and globalization. While the world is becoming a global village, thanks to telecommunications technology, the distance between the sites themselves has not changed and to overcome them we have mainly been using fossil fuels. From the information provided by Eurostat we can see that even in 2006 there were as many as 2.7 million parcels shipped daily. (»Post and courier sector statistics - NACE Rev. 1.1«, [Eurostat], b.d.). In todays world we are experiencing a raise in online shopping therefore affordable and ecologically-oriented package carriers are becoming increasingly important. Package carriers while carrying out their mission, which is simple, fast, and market-oriented transport, are always in interaction with the environment. Hence, they should be actively committed to reducing their negative impact on the environment, of which they and their customers are increasingly aware of.
