Abstract:

Title:
ECONOMIC AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF LED LIGHTING
Abstract:
The objective of this Master's study is the field of LED diode and LED lamps manufactured from them, which enable lower energy consumption for lighting compared to conventional bulbs with tungsten wire, whose efficiency is low and lifetime short. In the theorethical part the principle of the LED lamp and its basic element LED diode are presented. The attention in this Master's research is focused on semiconductors and the creation of the pn-junction which is cruical for the photo effects in lamps. The advantages of LED diodes which compensate for their disadvantages are presented as well. Especially in the beginning phase the use of LED diodes was linked to the feeling of producing agressive light and having bad influence on human sight. On the basis of the collected data it is shown that the price of LED lamps is getting lower over the last years and consequently, due to the increased sale, the selling price as well. Additionally, the problem of light pollution is presented. Light pollution is the introduction, directly or indirectly, of artificial light into the environment due to excessive number of lamps, public lighting and other sources of light that have adverse effects on human health and animals. Not to mention the favorable financial aspect of assembling LED lamps instead of conventional lamps. The research has confirmed that the replacement of the existing lamps with LED lamps can lower the effects of light pollution and rationalize the costs in firms, which is also shown in the practical part.
