Abstract:Droge so poznali že v starih civilizacijah.

Title:EMERGENCY MEDICAL AID AT DRUG POISONING
Abstract:Drugs were already known substances in ancient civilization. Back then probably nobody suspected that these substances will be a burning problem in our modern time, and cause of many family problems and despair. Emergency medicine technicians who work in the emergency medicine units are often faced with cases in which substance abuse is involved. In our work we present most frequent complications concerning drug intoxication, and dilemmas in drug abuser treatment which emergency technicians deal with. We also present possibilities of professional help in case of acute intoxication with illegal substances, and most frequent causes for drug overdose among abusers. In the empirical part we present graphic and descriptive results of our research which was conducted among emergency health workers in General Community Health Center of Maribor and Slovenska Bistrica. We found out that the biggest problem of emergency treatment is insertion of an intravenous line that the most common form of emergency treatment is application of antidote, and that most common cause of drug overdose is the purity of addictive substance.
