V diplomskem delu smo s sol-gel procesom sintetizirali alginatne gele, kot nosilce aktivne substance, v našem primeru nikotinske kisline, jih nato superkritično posušili s CO2.

Title:CHARACTERIZATION OF BIODEGRADABLE ALGINATE AEROGELS AS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS CARRIERS
Abstract:Natural polymers, such as polysaccharides, are gaining in medicine and food industries, because of ther features. Polysaccharides are biocompatible, biodegradable, renewable, non toxic, stable, they have low costs because of their abundance in nature. One of them is alginate, which is increasingly taking advantage of its oustanding characteristics. In the present study we used sol-gel process to synthesized alginate gels as drug carriers in drug delivery systems. As drug we used nicotinic acid. Resulting alginate hydrogels were dried with supercritical CO2 and analyzed afterwards. Aerogels prepared with supercritical drying of hydrogel are extremly porous, resulting controlled drug-loading which can be improved with synthesis and cross-linking agents. To form a gel two different cross-linking agents were used, CaCl2 and BaCl2, and different concentration of alginate. The results of analys were compared according to the agents of cross-linking and by concentration of alginate. We performed DSC,porosimetry, drug-loading of nicotinic acid, with SEM microscope we analyzed surface and inside of the resulting aerogel.
