Abstract:Spletna socialna omrežja zagotovo veljajo za najbolj popularni spletni trend v zadnjem desetletju. Že leta 2003 se je pričela revolucija na področju spletnih socialnih omrežij, ki traja še danes. V tem obdobju se je pojavilo ogromno različnih spletnih socialnih omrežij, namenjenih različnim ciljnim skupinam, nekatera so še danes med najbolj priljubljenimi. Spletna socialna omrežja uporabnikom ponujajo način za ohranjanje stikov s prijatelji ali sodelavci, obenem pa ponujajo tudi način za strokovno povezovanje. Podjetjem z manjšimi oglaševalskimi proračuni predstavljajo spletna socialna omrežja priložnost imeti svoj glas v oglaševalskem prostoru. To jim ponuja nove načine strateške komunikacije s ciljno publiko. V diplomskem seminarju smo opisali in pojasnili najpomembnejša spletna socialna omrežja, ki zasedajo vrh spletnih socialnih omrežij glede na popularnost. Opisali smo pomen vključevanja podjetij na spletna socialna omrežja, ovrednotili prepoznavnost podjetij z vključevanjem v spletna socialna omrežja in predstavili načine oglaševanja podjetij preko spletnih socialnih omrežij. Omenili smo nekaj najpomembnejših socialnih omrežij in izpostavili Twitter, Facebook in LinkedIn. Ugotovili smo, da spletna socialna omrežja prinašajo več prednosti kakor slabosti. Kljub temu moramo neprestano paziti na slabosti: ena napaka namreč lahko uniči vso dosedanje delo.

Title:THE INVOLVEMENT OF COMPANIES IN INTERNET SOCIAL NETWORKS
Abstract:Online social networks are definitely the most popular online trend in the last decade. The year 2003 started a real revolution in the field of online social networks, which is still going on today. During this period, a lot of different online social network sites appeared, that aimed at different target groups. Some of them are still one of the popular ones. They offer users a way to keep in touch with friends or co-workers and they also offer networking methods for professionals. Online social networks present an advertising opportunity for companies, especially for those with smaller advertising budgets, which offers them new ways of strategic communication with the target audience. In this graduate thesis we described and explained the most important online social networks based on their popularity, we described the importance of integrating the companies in online social networks and we evaluated the visibility of companies by participating in them. We also presented numerous ways for businesses advertising on social networks. We have mentioned some of the major social networks and highlighted the three most popular ones. These are Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. We came to the conclusion that social networks bring more advantages than disadvantages, but still we have to constantly pay attention to the disadvantages, because one mistake can ruin all our hard work.
