Abstract:Magistrsko delo se osredotoča na skoraj tisoč let staro tradicionalno japonsko umetnost, origami in njegovo vključevanje v sodobno oblikovanje multifunkcionalnih oblačil. Namen magistrskega dela je bil vključiti origami v oblačilo in s tem dati oblačilu možnost spreminjanja v nove oblike različnih razsežnosti in uporabnosti. Izdelani oblačili, imenovani cvet pomladi in laterna, s pregibanjem njunih origami vzorcev pridobita novo obliko in videz. Virtualni prototip oblačila cvet pomladi smo izdelali s programsko opremo Cinema 4D.

Title:Multifunctional origami clothing
Abstract:Present master's thesis focuses on a nearly thousand-year old traditional Japanese art called origami and its incorporation into modern design of multifunctional clothing. Multifunctional clothes that present a completely new look in a single move, are desirable in the modern world, because they can be worn on various occasions. At the same time one can not only save money when buying new clothes but also space in their closet. The purpose of this thesis was to allow a garment to morph into new forms of different dimensions and usages by incorporating origami. We examined the origami technique and incorporated it into the textile design process by pleating as well as into the process of modern clothing design with multifunctional properties. For this purpose we designed two female dresses, each with its own origami pattern: modular origami of Revealed Flower and origami Jack O' Lantern. We examined conditions of pleating for selected textiles into origami with a flat iron. Based on the results of testing the persistence of pleated origami patterns, two multifunctional garments were designed. The dresses named “Spring Bloom” and “Lantern” obtain a new form and appearance by folding their origami patterns. The virtual prototype of “Spring Bloom” was created with Cinema 4D Software.
