Abstract:
Za gospodarsko razvito otoško državo, kot je Velika Britanija, je zdrav in razvit pomorski sektor ključnega pomena za njeno zunanjo trgovino in gospodarstvo nasploh. Namen tega diplomskega dela je bil orisati in analizirati ta ogromni sektor britanskega gospodarstva. Ključne ugotovitve so, da se Velika Britanija ponaša s peto najobširnejšo komercialno floto, s katero opravi 95 % vsega svojega trgovanja s svetovno trgovino. Kot razvita država v Evropski Uniji se ponaša z nadpovprečno dobrim gospodarskim stanjem kljub nedavni svetovni gospodarski recesiji, pri čemer ima pomorski sektor ključno vlogo, kar smo v tem delu tudi dokazali. Pokazali smo direktne in inducirane vplive tega sektorja na zaposlovanje, BDP in davčne prihodke. Preleteli smo zgodovino Velike Britanije in njenega pomorstva, da smo ustvarili primerjalno sliko s sedanjim stanjem in trendi, po katerih se sektor razvija.

Title:
Logistic and economic characteristics of maritime transport in Great Britain
Abstract:
For an economically developed island nation, such as Great Britain, a healthy and developed maritime sector is crucial for its foreign trade and the economy in general. The purpose of this thesis was to outline and analyze this huge sector of the British economy. Key findings are that the UK boasts with the 5th largest commercial fleet in the world, by which they make 95 % of all foreign trade. As a developed country in the European Union, it is in an exceptionally good economic situation, despite the recent global economic recession, for which, as we have demonstrated, the maritime sector plays a key role. We showed direct and induced impacts of this sector on employment, GDP and tax revenues. We summarized Great Britain’s maritime history to create a comparative picture of the current situation and trends, according to which the sector is evolving.
