Abstract:Infekcija s humanim papiloma virusom (HPV) je spolno prenosljiva bolezen.

Title:The Effectiveness of informing parents about preventive vaccination against human papilloma virus (HPV) infection
Abstract:Human papiloma virus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection from the family of human papiloma viruses. We try to prevent the infections by using preventive vaccination with sixth grade primary school girls. The nurse takes a big part in informing the parents and their children about the causes of the development of human papiloma virus. The aim of this research is to establish whether the parents are familiar with the problem of HPV infection, how informed they are and if they want any additional information in the form of lessons, seminars or workshops. We used a descriptive method and a partially structured questionnaire in two primary schools, which was answered by sixth grade girls’ parents who are responsible or represent their children, and decide about their better and more secure sex life. We established that the parents generally are familiar with the problem of HPV infection but feel that they are not informed enough and want more information via classes, seminars and workshops. According to the results of the questionnaire answered by the children' parents, there is a lack of information about the vaccination against HPV infection, so there is a big need for more information and education for parents.
