Abstract:
V raziskavo smo zajeli četrtošolce mestnih in podeželskih šol.

Title:
HOW FOURTH-GRADE PUPILS SPEND THEIR FREE TIME
Abstract:
Free time is defined as time without any duties. It is needed by children as well as by adults. Free time is the means of achieving quality lifestyle. Therefore it is important what we do in our free time. The theoretical part of this thesis introduces free time, the factors which influence the choice of free time activities, kinds of free time activities and how much knowledge about free time activities is acquired by pupils in the second and third period. The empirical part, which is based on a survey questionnaire, researches how pupils comprehend free time and whether this topic is discussed at school. We were focused on the quality level of pupils’ free time, the variety of activities, if pupils are content with their free time and whether they face any obstacles at joining after-school activities. We were interested in differences according to pupils’ gender, their residence and their parents’ education. The research included 4th-grade pupils from urban and rural area schools. The results have shown that pupils regard free time as time for relaxing and enjoying. At school, the topic of free time is predominantly discussed at the subject Society. Most often pupils spend their free time with their families; they normally do not take part in any of school extra-curriculum activities, though they are active in after-school activities elsewhere – usually one activity. Sports activities and music school are pupils’ most common choices. Pupils are mostly satisfied with their free time and they normally don’t experience any troubles at taking part at after-school activities elsewhere.
