Abstract:Dojenje je zelo pomembno, saj je materino mleko najpomembnejša prehrana v prvih mesecih otrokovega življenja. Kadar dojenje ni možno, je treba materino mleko nadomestiti z ustreznim adaptiranim mlekom. Pri šestih mesecih otrokove starosti materino mleko oz. mlečni nadomestek ne pokriva več vseh otrokovih potreb po hranilih, zato ga nadomestimo s postopnim uvajanjem ustrezne mešane prehrane. Namen diplomskega dela je opisati dojenčka, poudariti pomen dojenja in predstaviti način uvajanja otroške mešane prehrane v prehrano dojenčka. Anketni vprašalnik je vseboval 19 vprašanj odprtega in zaprtega tipa. Kvantitativne podatke smo statistično obdelali in jih ponazorili v obliki frekvenčnih tabel in grafikonov.

Title:Infant nutrition
Abstract:Breastfeeding is the most important source of nutrition in the first months of infant's life. Sometimes breastfeeding is not possible, therefore mother's milk needs to be replaced with adapted milk formula. At the age of six months, infants should receive nutritionally adequate and safe complementary nutrition, since mother's milk or adapted milk formula do not provide enough nutrients an infant needs at this stage. The purpose of this thesis was to describe infants, the importance of breastfeeding as well as infant nutrition guidelines. The research was based on quantitative research methodology and took place in one of the health care centers in Maribor. The data were acquired with an anonymous questionnaire containing 19 open ended and closed ended questions, which were filled out by 49 mothers. Quantitative data were statistically analyzed and illustrated in frequency tables and charts. The analysis has shown that 57 % of mothers in this research were breastfeeding their infant. 59 % of mothers first introduced complementary nutrition when their infants were six months old. The majority of mothers, i.e. 98 % of them, was introduced to the healthy nutrition guidelines. Infants grow and develop from month to month, therefore they need more vitamins and minerals, which cannot only be provided with breastfeeding. It is important to start introducing infant nutrition gradually and at the right time. During this process, a nurse plays an important role supporting and giving advice to parents and introducing the importance of infant nutrition.
