Title:Wound treatment using negative presure
Abstract:Since numerous new bandages, which require continuous training in wound treatment from the medical staff, have been appearing on the market, the purpose of this thesis was to present modern wound treatment, particularly the guidelines for using negative pressure, e.g. use of the V1STA® negative pressure device, and to describe the nurse's tasks in dressing the wounds. For the purposes of the thesis the descriptive work method was applied, and we used domestic and foreign literature to present the theoretical basis. The research was based on the quantitative methodology of work, a study was carried out. Data was collected with the help of a questionnaire, which was used to poll health care workers at the Trauma and Abdominal and General Surgery Department at the University Clinical Centre Maribor. Study results have confirmed that healthcare workers are familiar with the negative pressure therapy and the V1STA® device, that when changing bandages they are on the lookout for signs of infection, and that they observe the measures and standards for wound treatment. However, there are still doubts in the departments about who should be replacing the bandage when therapy with negative pressure is required, as both nurses and health care technicians feel insufficiently competent due to too few training opportunities.
