Abstract:

Title:
The use of alternative energy sources in logistics
Abstract:
Fossil fuels are a constant companion in our everyday lives. They are used to generate most of the energy for heating, lighting, cooking, and running TVs, computers, etc. Almost all of our industry and means of transportation, including cars, run on fossil fuels. But fossil fuels will not last forever, so it is only a question of time before some of them are completely used up. Another issue with fossil fuels is pollution. Logistics is very fossil-fuel (i.e. oil) dependable as well. In our thesis we will try to demonstrate and solve this problem with a concrete example, namely the logistics chain of the Pivovarna Laško brewery. We try to reduce oil usage and emissions in the chain, and present possible alternatives to oil and the internal combustion engine. We also try to depict scenarios that could bring an end to the oil-era and envision what will come next.
