Abstract:Motnje srčnega ritma so eden večjih problemov sodobne kardiologije, zato ker se pogosto pojavljajo pri najrazličnejših boleznih srca in pa zato, ker njihovo zdravljenje še zdaleč ni povsem zadovoljivo in rešeno.

Title:Measures taken by the nursing staff in case of arrhythmia
Abstract:Arrhythmia is one of the major problems in modern cardiology, because it is commonly repeated in various cardiovascular diseases, because their treatment is not yet satisfactorily and completely resolved. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis we presented the anatomy and physiology of the heart describing the most common supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, which are in each disorder also shown by ECG recordings. We described the diagnostic procedures in order to identify arrhythmias and its treatment methods. We have also presented the algorithms of basic and additional life support for adults. In the empirical part of the diploma thesis, we presented a research we made in UKC Maribor using a questionnare. The questionnare consisted of 25 questions. The research also included 50 nursing staff members. The research was made in March 2012. We found out that the medical staff is well-aware how dangerous arrhythmia is, and also knows how to act correct in such cases. Based on the research, we found that the members of the nursing team, in the case of revival (CPR), also perform certain actions, for which they are not qualified for, however they do not want additional competences in this area. Nurses need more knowledge in different areas of work about the cases of arrhythmia, and also about correct and urgent actions. In our opinion, such knowledge is achieved only through continuous education and training in this area, which includes timely identification and treatment of patients in cardiac arrest.
