Title:Študij dejavnikov pri modeliranju razvoja trajnostne energetike

Abstract:Disertacija je osnovana na aktualni energetski problematiki, kar zajema velik vpliv energetike na okolje, večanje globalnega povpraševanja po energiji, visoko uvozno odvisnosti Evropske unije (EU) od energije, rastoče cene energije in težnje po nadzoru nad viri energije. Disertacija je osnovana na aktualni energetski problematiki, kar zajema velik vpliv energetike na okolje, večanje globalnega povpraševanja po energiji, visoko uvozno odvisnost Evropske unije (EU) od energije, rastoče cene energije in težnje po nadzoru nad viri energije. Rešitev zapisanih problemov je zaznana v razvoju trajnostne energetike, ki ne temelji na masovnem povečevanju proizvodnje in rabe energije, temveč na učinkoviti in smotrni rabi energije, proizvedene iz konkurenčnih, okolju in družbi prijaznih virov. Ker je trajnostni razvoj energetike zelo kompleksen, mora biti premišljeno načrtovan ter podprt z znanstvenimi in s strokovnimi študijami s področja načrtovanja razvoja trajnostne energetike. Ena izmed slednjih je tudi študij dejavnikov pri modeliranju razvoja trajnostne energetike. Disertacija v prvem delu zajema pregled literature, specializiranih baz podatkov, statističnih podatkov, izsledke študij ter obstoječe situacije na področju energetike v svetu, EU in Sloveniji. To predstavlja okvir in meje disertacije. Drugi del raziskave predstavlja celovit pregled literature in analizo izsledkov s področja trajnostne energetike. V tem delu so identificirani in preučeni obstoječi predlogi in smernice posameznih raziskovalcev za razvoj trajnostne energetike, izvedena je primerjalna analiza konvencionalnih in obnovljivih virov energije z vidika trajnostnega razvoja, identificirani, preučeni in analizirani so tudi obstoječi modeli in orodja za načrtovanje energetike oziroma za vzpostavitev trajnostnega razvoja energetike. Pregled literature je dopolnjen še s primeri dobre prakse vzpostavitve razvoja trajnostne energetike. Tretji in najpomembnejši del raziskave predstavlja praktični del. V tem delu so preučeni ključni dejavniki, ki so pomembni pri modeliranju razvoja trajnostne energetike. Študija je izvedena na primeru vzorčne države – Slovenije. Najprej so preučeni t. i. temeljni dejavniki razvoja energetike, kamor so uvrščeni preučevanje povpraševanja po energiji in energetskih bilanc, analiza mešanice virov energije, ocena potencialov trajnostnih virov energije, predvidevanje bodočega povpraševanja po energiji in testiranje skladnosti potencialov trajnostnih virov energije z bodočimi potrebami po energiji. Poleg temeljnih dejavnikov, bistvenih za načrtovanje razvoja energetike, so preučeni še dejavniki trajnostnega razvoja, kamor uvrščamo ekonomske, okoljske in družbene dejavnike. V sklopu ekonomskih dejavnikov je izvedena študija odvisnosti obnovljivih virov energije od investicij v obnovljive vire energije, saj je ocenjeno, da je omenjena korelacija pomembna pri vzpostavljanju trajnostne energetike. V tem sklopu sta izvedeni tudi študija eksternih stroškov in primerjalna analiza izbranih obnovljivih in konvencionalnih virov energije, osnovana na primerjavi investicijskih, proizvodnih in eksternih stroškov. Identificirane so tudi inovativne metodologije za ocenjevanje energetskih projektov oziroma ukrepov v njihovem celotnem življenjskem ciklu. V študij okoljskih dejavnikov je zajeta implikacija ocene okoljskih vplivov energetike v fazi pridobivanja in distribucije energije. Na konkretnem primeru izbrane države so z okoljskega vidika natančno preučene energetske bilance in mešanica virov za proizvodnjo električne energije, identificirani in ocenjeni so tudi vplivi le-tega na okolje v fazi pridobivanja energentov in virov energije, proizvodnje, distribucije ter rabe energije. Title:Study of factors in sustainable energy development modelling
Abstract:The dissertation is based on topical energy issues, including environmental impacts, increasing global energy demand, high energy import dependency of the European Union (the EU), increasing energy prices and a tendency to control energy sources. The solution of the above stated problems is identified in the development of sustainable energy, which should not be based on an increasing energy production and use, but rather on efficient, rational use of energy produced from competitive, environmentally and socially friendly energy sources. Since the sustainable development of the energy industry is complex, it must be carefully designed and supported with scientific and professional studies about sustainable energy development planning, one of which is the study of factors in sustainable energy development modelling. This dissertation is structured as follows. In the first part, special and statistical databases and studies are analysed and current energy situation in the world, the EU and in Slovenia is examined and compared. Based on this information, the framework of the dissertation has been developed. The second part of this study includes a comprehensive literature review and analysis of results from the field of sustainable energy development. The existing measures and directions for the development of sustainable energy are identified and examined, a comparative analysis of conventional and renewable energy sources from the sustainability perspective is carried out, and the existing models and tools for modelling and establishing sustainable energy development are identified, studied and analysed. This part of the study is additionally upgraded with the examples of best practises of establishing sustainable energy development. The third and the core part of this dissertation represents the findings of our practical research study. Here, core factors which are important for modelling and planning sustainable energy development are studied. The study of factors was conducted as an advance case study based on data for Slovenia. First, we investigated basic energy development factors which included the examination of energy demand and energy balances, the analysis of national energy mix, the evaluation of sustainable energy sources potential, the forecast of future energy demand and the test of compatibility of future energy demand and sustainable energy sources potential. In addition to these basic energy development factors which are essential for energy development planning, we also studied sustainable development factors, i.e. economic, environmental and socio-political factors. Within the study of economic factors, the correlation and dependency of renewable energy sources on investments in renewables was carried out, because it has been confirmed that these relationships are important for the sustainable energy development. A comparative analysis of renewable and conventional energy sources based on economic perspective (investment costs, production costs and external costs) was also performed and new innovative methodologies for economic assessment of energy projects in their total life cycle were identified and examined. The study of environmental factors included the assessment of environmental impacts in the energy industry life cycle, particularly in the phase of production and in the phase of distribution. National energy balance and national energy mix of energy production were carefully examined from the environmental perspective. This included the identification and evaluation of all environmental impacts of energy mix in the phases of energy sources extraction, energy production, distribution and use. Thirdly, the study of social and socio-political factors was based on the evaluation of public opinion and the stakeholder analysis (public, active in the energy sector, top energy experts from academic, governmental and business sector).
