Abstract:V diplomski nalogi sem proučila organizacijo in delovanje edinega zavetišča za male živali v Pomurju, Mala hiša zavetišče za živali d.o.o. Ker je bila problematika zapuščenih malih živali v Pomurju pereč problem že vrsto let, sem proučila probleme z zapuščenimi živalmi na tem območju in njihovo reševanje v organizaciji zavetišča za male živali. Zavetišče Mala hiša d.o.o. je začelo obratovati 22. 10. 2008. V nadaljevanju diplomskega dela je jasno vidno, da je bila pobuda za ustanovitev pravilna in nujna. Število zapuščenih živali, kot lahko vidimo iz statističnih podatkov v diplomski nalogi, se iz leta v leto povečuje. Zaradi tega je tudi pomembno, da delo in organizacija v zavetišču potekata složno s pričakovanji okolja. Odziv okolja je bil presenetljivo dober, saj se je število zapuščenih živali zaradi zavetišča zmanjšalo, hkrati pa se je povečala skrb za zapuščene živali v tem zavetišču. Največja pridobitev okolja z zavetiščem je bila v ozaveščenosti ljudi, kar se kaže tako skozi prostovoljstvo na tem področju kot tudi s podatki o številu posvojitev živali iz zavetišča. Glede na podatke zavetišča so bile posvojitve živali zelo uspešne, kajti nobena posvojena žival se v času delovanja zavetišča ni vrnila nazaj. Samo ozaveščanje okolja o pomembnosti zavetišča ni dovolj, da se razreši problem zapuščenih živali. Temveč moramo z ozaveščanjem ljudi začeti čim prej. Vidne so dobre prakse v sodelovanju zavetišča z lokalnimi osnovnimi in srednjimi šolami. Te so bile na obiskih v zavetišču ali pa so jih predstavniki zavetišča obiskali na šolah. Vidimo lahko, da se z vključevanjem problematike zapuščenih živali v pedagoški proces na šolah opazi napredek v pozitivnem in odgovornem odnosu človeka do živali. Upamo lahko, da bo zaradi teh pedagoških pristopov že v začetku izobraževanja, socializacije in vzgoje otrok viden napredek, ki se bo kazal v manjšem številu zapuščenih in zlorabljenih živali v lokalnem okolju.

Title:ORGANISATION AND OPERATION OF SHELTER FOR SMALL ANIMALS MALA HIŠA d.o.o.
Abstract:In this Graduation thesis I have examined the organisation and operation of the only animal shelter for small animals in the Pomurje region, Mala hiša zavetišče za živali, d.o.o. The problems with abandoned small animals in the Pomurje region has been a problem for many years. Therefore, I have studied the problems of abandoned animals in this area and their solution in organizing an animal shelter. The animal shelter Mala hiša, d.o.o. started to operate on 22.10.2008. In my Graduation thesis it is clear to see, that the initiative of building an animal shelter was right and necessary. From the statistical data we can see that the number of abandoned animals is increasing through the years. That is why it is so important that the organisation and work of the animal shelter goes in hand with expectations of the local environment. The response of the local environment was surprisingly good. The number of abandoned animals shrunk with the establisment of the animal shelter. The care of abandoned animals in that shelter increased as well. The biggest advantage of the local environment was the awareness of the people. This can be seen through people volunteering and the number of adoptions of animals from that animal shelter. Based on data from the shelter we can see that the adoptions of the animals were successful. None of the adopted animals were given back to the shelter. Making the local environment aware is not enough to solve the problem of abandoned animals. That is why we need to start the awareness of it as soon as possible. We can see good practices in cooperation between the animal shelter and the local ground schools and secondary schools. Those schools were visiting the shelter or, the workers from the shelter visited them at the schools. We can see that the integration of the problems associated with abandoned animals in the school curriculum shows progress in a positive and responsible relationship between animals and people. We can hope that we will be able to see the progress of implementing these practices in the schools resulting in a smaller number of abandoned and abused animals in our local environment.
