Title:The link between colours and emotions with the fourth grade students
Abstract:This master thesis desribes the field of colours, which can have a strong effect on human body and our emotions. Even as children we use colours at home and at school. According to experts, the use of different colours reveals the child's emotional life. It is important to emphasize that the colour expression of children changes and upgrades itself through their development. Children's attitude towards colours also changes. Researches, carried out in this area, indicate, that we can pull parallels between choices of colours and expressions of basic emotions. Our study was made using modified grading scale of colours and various emotional states of students in fourth grade to verify the link between emotions and colours, their popular and unpopular colours. We were interested in the existence of differences based on gender differences and average annual assessments. We have found out that students associate positive feelings with warm colors and negative emotions with cool ones, with the lead of girls and students with the highest mark average. Regarding favourite colours, purple stands out with girls and blue with boys. Black is the colour that the students dislike.
Keywords:colour, colour effects, artistic expression of children, psychodiagnostic value of colours, middle and late childhood, emotions
