Abstract:

Title:
OPPORTUNITIES TO REDUCE THE CONSUMPTION OF OIL DERIVATES IN MILITARY FORCES
Abstract:
By introducing internal combustion engine into military forces, the supply of oil derivatives has become an important logistic issue. The results of development in technology are shown in increased demand for oil derivatives in military forces to keep the military machine in motion. At the moment, oil derivatives represent the largest part of cargo that military logistic must provide for military forces. In many cases, oil derivatives represent a limiter factor in military operations. The dependency of military forces from oil derivatives increases the possibility for casualties among military personnel alongside with high costs of transport and distribution. That is why new technological solutions to reduce fuel consumption are emerging. A lot of attention is devoted to fuel cell technology with hydrogen as a fuel, biofuels, hybrid drive, renewable energy sources and finding solutions for improving fuel economy in current technological systems.
