Abstract:
V diplomskem delu predstavimo hierarhično krajevno omrežje, njegove prednosti ter zgradbo. Podrobneje se osredotočimo na protokol vpetega drevesa (STP), kjer opišemo njegove procese. Izdelamo dvoslojno hierarhično omrežje v simulatorju Packet Tracer, kjer ga konfiguriramo na dva načina. Pri teh dveh načinih predstavimo različne scenarije, ki se lahko pojavijo v omrežju. Pravilna zasnova omrežja v sodobnem podjetju oz. ustanovi je ključnega pomena, saj lahko pravilno načrtovano računalniško omrežje, v primeru izpada stikal ali povezav med njimi, pomeni velik prihranek na času in denarju.

Title:
PHYSICAL AND LOGICAL REDUNDANCY IN SWITCHED LOCAL AREA NETWORKS
Abstract:
In the thesis we present a hierarchical local area network, its strengths and structure. More specifically, we focus on the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and describe its processes. We create a two-layer hierarchical network in a Packet Tracer simulator, and configure it in two different ways. In these two ways different scenarios, that may occur in the network, are presented. In the modern companies or institution a proper network design is crucial, since a correctly designed computer network might represent substantial savings of time and money in case of failure of switches or links between them.
