Abstract:

Title:
THE EDUCATION OF A MEDICAL NURSE THROUGH SLOVENIAN HISTORY
Abstract:
The purpose of my project is to chronologically display the schooling of medical nurses through the history of Slovenia. With answers to some specific questions, we will be discovering the different methods of schooling. Taking care of our health has been in our minds since the ancient. At first the job of a medical nurse was not respected, not until Florence Nightingale began to really put her effort into it, which then made her the first medical nurse ever. The schooling of medical nurses started here in the times of Empress Marija Terezija, when the first midwife schools were established in the former Slovenian cities of Gradz, Klagenfurt and Trieste, which lasted until the year 1983. There were also established some schools for medical assistants which served as spreading the knowledge of personal hygiene through then poorly educated people. The first school for nurses was established in Ljubljana and over the next years they were also opened in other major Slovenian cities. In those times they also started to establish colleges for medical nurses and nowadays we can continue the study and get a masters degree in this field. In this project We will mostly concentrate on the development of schools in Ljubljana, where the schooling is at it's most. We will also discuss how the schooling spread throughout Slovenia. We will also show how the development of the nursing schools pushed the schooling sistem to a higher level.
