Title:DEALING WITH STRESS IN ORGANISATIONS
Abstract:Stress is the phenomenon which is present in our modern society everywhere – on streets, at work, and even on holiday. Originating from remote times of gatherer societies, the word »stress« was first used in the 17th century in the English language describing the psychical state of feeling troubled, under pressure, anxious. There are several types of stress among which it is important to emphasise the division of stress into a positive and negative phenomenon. The positive stress can even be beneficial for man, while the negative stress exerts a bad influence on our health and can be very harmful in a long-term. Unfortunately the negative form of stress prevails in our society. Each particular individual reacts to stress in a different way; however the stress is mostly detectable through corporal, emotional and behavioural symptoms. Nevertheless, the consequences of stress do not affect the individual only, but are reflected also in the organisation where the person works. Stress at work place has become the most common phenomenon in the actual society. Therefore it is extremely important for the organisations to know which strategies and methods should be used in order to combat stress.
