Abstract:Diplomsko delo predstavlja vpogled v zgodovinski razvoj managementa. Kaj nam odkriva razvoj znanosti o managementu? Ideje, pristope, sledi razvoju v okolju.

Title:HISTORICAL EVOLUTION OF MANAGEMENT
Abstract:This seminar gives an insight on the historical development in management. What does the development of management knowledge show us? Ideas and approaches – it follows the environmental progress. All this helps us understand what happened yesterday, how that can help us today, and what we can expect from tomorrow. In general management is a practice which we realize through work and experience. Therefore, why do we need an insight into the course of management development through history? Because it helps us understand the present. At the beginning I introduced the general meaning of organization and management and it’s early beginnings, further I discussed various schools and approaches to researching management. In discussing the classic school of management I wanted to underline the point of view, that the key to work efficiency and organizational productivity is efficient work planning, the use of suitable encouragement and a qualified management. Organizations work routinely, efficiently, reliably and in an anticipated manner. The behavioral approach, on the other hand, states that efficiency is not dependent only on physical circumstances, that rewarding is not dependent only on financial rewards, and that a high work division is not always appropriate. The situational approach was developed in the 1960’s and is today the basic approach to forming an organization. The task of science is to give a systematical and explicit situational concept, and to define which approach to organization works best in which situation. Furthermore I gave an insight to organization and management today, so that I could encompass a small part of management development. The foremost problem of presenting the history of management is that we have no one source, for which we could say; this is the beginning of management (Turk, 2009).
