Abstract:

Title:
Overweight as a risk factor for stroke
Abstract:
In the last few decades the predominance of brain stroke has been increasing. There are several stroke risk factors, one of them is obesity. In my study I represent stroke, the stroke risk factors (obesity) and the role of a nurse in educating patients about the risks of a stroke. Health education has a significant role in treating chronic patients, it motivates them in improving their living conditions. In the empirical part I researched patients in clinics of general medicine. I researched different age groups, weather they are aware of the stroke risk factors and that obesity is known as one of the major reason for a stroke. The survey shows, that people are well informed about the risks and they are aware that overwight people have high heart disease risk, which can cause a stroke. They gained knowledge about this from reading ( books, magazines), watching televison and finally from their doctors and nurses.
