Abstract:
Diplomsko delo opisuje bolezen kožni melanom, vzročne dejavnike tveganja za nastanek kožnega melanoma ter kako bi se naj ljudje zaščitili pred škodljivimi učinki UV-žarkov. Predvsem je poudarek na preventivi in zaščiti pred UV-žarki, saj je kožni melanom najnevarnejša vrsta kožnega raka, ki nastane predvsem zaradi izpostavljanja soncu. V empiričnem delu so predstavljeni rezultati raziskave o poznavanju kožnega melanoma med ljudmi in razlika v zaščiti pred UV-žarki med moškimi in ženskami. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da ljudje kljub pričakovanju nasprotnega kar dobro poznajo kožni melanom, vendar pa le redko ali občasno upoštevajo preventivne ukrepe za preprečevanje kožnega melanoma. Pri tem je bilo ugotovljeno, da se znajo ženske bolje zaščititi kot moški. Ker so zaradi nezaščitenega izpostavljanja soncu škodljive posledice na koži vse pogostejše, je potrebno z osveščanjem prebivalstva o intenzivni zaščiti pred soncem začeti že v otroštvu in s pravilnim varnim ravnanjem nadaljevati vse življenje.

Title:
Awareness of Melanoma Skin Cancer prevention
Abstract:
This dissertational thesis describes skin disease melanoma, risk factors for the development of melanoma and different ways of protection from harmful UV radiation. The emphasis of the thesis lies mostly on prevention and protection from UV radiation, since the melanoma is the most dangerous kind of skin cancer, which develops mainly because of exposure to sun. In the empirical part results of the study of familiarity of melanoma among people and the difference in protection from the UV radiation between man and women are presented. Results have shown that people know melanoma better than it was expected. However, they rarely or seldom pay consideration to preventive measures, although women can protect themselves better than men. It seems that due to unprotected exposure to sun, harmful effects on skin are ever more frequent. It is necessary to raise awarness about intensive sun protection already in childhood and continue with the appropriate measures in the adulthood.
