Abstract:V diplomski nalogi so predstavljeni bralni interesi učencev drugega in tretjega triletja dveh osnovnih šol v Zasavju.

Title:Reading interests of children in primary school
Abstract:In presented work we are researching reading interests of primary school students from two primary schools in Zasavje. In the first part of our work we present a theoretical framework associated with reading in general, types of reading, reading development and reading abilities; we also discuss different types of readers, motivation for reading, books that won awards in the past years and reading badge. In the empirical part we present and analyse results based on our research on reading interests of primary school students. Results show, that the reading interest decreases with ageing; children from fourth to sixth grade read more than children from seventh to ninth grade. Girls read more often than boys. Results also show that there are statistically significant differences between children from fourth to sixth grade and children from seventh to ninth grade in most commonly read book genres. Children from fourth to sixth grade like to read adventure books, whereas children from seventh to ninth grade also like to read love books and books that talk about different teen-related problems. We also found a statistically significant difference between girls and boys. Girls like to read love books and books associated with teen-related problems, while boys prefer science fiction. When it comes to book selection, mainly all children state that book’s title has the most important role. Most of children prefer prose to poetry and drama. In the last part of our work we present a list of book titles that are, according to children in our research, more or less popular.
