Abstract:
Metode: Pregledali smo znanstveno literaturo, ki smo jo iskali v mednarodnih podatkovnih bazah: Pubmed, CINAHL Ultimate (EBSCOhost Web) in ScienceDirect (Elsevier). Z Boolovimi operaterji smo poiskali niz ključnih besed.

Title:
The most commonly used illicit substances among adolescents
Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Adolescence is a period of intensive changes, with increased curiosity, that's why adolescents often test their limits when experimenting with illicit substances. The consequences of substance use can be very serious, as in addition to indirect health effects such as injury, poisoning and mental disorders, long-term substance use can lead to the development of dependence, poorer academic performance, social isolation and difficulties in social integration. The aim of our final thesis is to explore, through a literature review, the most commonly used illicit substances among adolescents. Methods: We reviewed the scientific literature by searching international databases Pubmed, CINAHL Ultimate (EBSCOhost Web) and ScienceDirect (Elsevier). We used Boolean operators to create a string of keywords. The search and selection of sources was illustrated using the PRISMA diagram and the strength of evidence assessment was illustrated using the hierarchy of evidence. Results: It was found that adolescents from the age of 13 years onwards are heavily involved in illicit substances, in particular alcohol, nicotine and cannabis. Nurses have an important role to play, as they can help to prevent and reduce risks by identifying early signs of substance use. Discussion and conclusion: The problem of illicit substance use among adolescents is a growing concern, threatening their health, safety and future. There is a need for unification of laws and greater awareness of the consequences of use worldwide, as use of substance has increased significantly in recent years.
