Abstract:Uvod: V času pandemije koronavirusne bolezni so zdravstveni delavci bili dolžni nositi osebno varovalno opremo. V magistrskem delu smo predstavili delo z osebno varovalno opremo v enoti covid intenzivne terapije.

Title:Work with personal protective equipment in covid intensive care unit
Abstract:Introduction: During the coronavirus pandemic, health care workers were required to wear personal protective equipment. In this Master’s thesis, we presented the use of personal protective equipment in a covid intensive care unit. We investigated the effects of personal protective equipment use on the physical and psychological health of health care workers in a covid intensive care unit. Methods: Quantitative research was conducted using a questionnaire. The questionnaire included respondents’ demographic characteristics, claims about the effects of personal protective equipment on the workflow, and physical and psychological effects on health care workers. 72 respondents working in the covid intensive care unit participated. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 22. Results: The survey showed that personal protective equipment affects communication between workers (PO = 4.19 SO = 0.762), that 57 (79.2%) of the respondents feel more tired when working with personal protective equipment, that 53 (73.6%) of the respondents feel sufficiently qualified to work in the covid intensive care unit, that 62 (86.1%) of the respondents feel safe wearing personal protective equipment, and that 42 (58.3%) of the respondents did not receive any additional training on the correct use of personal protective equipment. Discussion and conclusion: Due to current and future pandemics, it is necessary to define measures to reduce the risks associated with the use of personal protective equipment as soon as possible. The quality of work performed and the satisfaction and efficiency of health care workers depend on these measures.
