Abstract:Uvod: Paliativna oskrba je celostna obravnava neozdravljivo bolnega pacienta in podpora njegovim najbližjim. Osnovni namen paliativne oskrbe je s primernimi postopki in ukrepi izboljšati kakovost življenja pacienta in njegovih najbližjih.

Title:Palliative care of a patient with colon and rectal cancer
Abstract:Introduction: Palliative care is the holistic treatment of a terminally ill patient and support for his relatives. The basic purpose of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of the patient and his loved ones through suitable procedures and measures. The thesis aims to investigate the impact of palliative care on the quality of life in patients with colon and rectal cancer. Methods: The final work is prepared based on a review of the scientific literature, which was searched through the international databases CINAHL, PubMed, West of Science and Sage. We used a descriptive work method. The analysis and synthesis of the data itself were presented with thematic analysis. The strength of the evidence was assessed using the evidence hierarchy. Results: In the final review, we included seven articles that met the selected criteria. We found insufficient research on this topic that would offer concrete answers. Discussion and conclusion: Palliative care for patients with colon and rectal cancer must start early enough in the treatment process, enabling an improved quality of life for the patient.
