Le ti so s tehnologijo odraščali in doživeli že kar nekaj večjih tehnoloških trendov (npr. razvoj pametnih telefonov in tabličnih računalnikov), ki so bistveno spremenili vsakdanje življenje, šolske sisteme in predvsem poslovni svet. V prvem delu diplomske naloge smo raziskali področje vodenja, v katerem smo opredelili področja vodenja, predstavili karakteristike uspešnega vodje in navedli različne teorije vodenja.

Title:Leading generation Z
Abstract:Managers need to know their employees and their needs in order to ensure maximum effectiveness in carrying out management tasks. Generations are very different in their values, goals and ways of working, so it is for leaders essential to know the characteristics of each generation. Generation Z is even more distinct from previous generations, as they are the so-called 'children of technology'. They are the ones who have grown up with technology and have experienced several major technological trends (e.g. the development of smartphones and tablets) that have fundamentally changed everyday life, school systems and, above all, the business world. In the first part of the thesis, we explored the field of leadership, defining the domains of leadership, presenting the characteristics of a successful leader, and outlining different leadership theories. In the remainder of the thesis, we outline the characteristics of the different generations and then present a strategy for leading Generation Z. In the second, empirical part of the thesis, we conducted research on the leadership of Generation Z. We developed a survey with questions related to job search, preferred leadership and communication styles, and motivational factors for Generation Z. The survey was conducted with Slovenian members of Generation Z, and with Spanish members. We compared the two surveys and looked for differences between Slovenian and Spanish members of Generation Z. We found that there are no major differences between the two countries. Most of the perceived differences relate mainly to remuneration in the form of days off work and the amount of leave. For the Spanish respondents, days off work are important when looking for a job and for motivation at work, while for the Slovenian respondents, it is mainly the amount of salary and financial rewards that stands out, as well as promotion opportunities. These differences can be attributed to cultural differences between the two countries, as Spain is known for a more leisurely and slower life, while in Slovenia people put emphasis on success and career.
