Abstract:V magistrskem delu smo raziskovali vpliv čustvene inteligentnosti pri vodenju v javni in zasebni organizaciji. V magistrskem delu smo uporabili več različnih metod: deskriptivno metodo, komparativno metodo ter metodo kompilacije. V empiričnem delu smo uporabili kvalitativno raziskovalni pristop. S kvalitativnim raziskovalnim pristopom smo se želeli približati konkretnim izkušnjam vodstvenega kadra v zasebni in javni organizaciji, raziskati njihova občutja ter jih lažje spodbuditi izogibanju površinskim odgovorom in raziskati to, kar zaznavajo in doživljajo vsak dan na delovnem mestu. V okviru kvalitativne raziskave smo podatke zbirali z metodo polstrukturiranega intervjuja. V raziskavo smo vključili dve organizaciji – javno in zasebno.

Title:The impact of emotional intelligence on leadership in private and public organization
Abstract:This master's thesis investigates the impact of emotional intelligence on leadership in public and private organizations. The purpose of the master's thesis is to research the characteristics of leadership in a public organization and the characteristics of leadership in a private organization with an emphasis on emotional intelligence. A vital component of this study is focusing on managers' emotional intelligence experiences. The master's thesis uses several different methods; the descriptive method, the comparative method, and the compilation method. The empirical part of this master's thesis follows a qualitative research approach. By adopting a qualitative research approach, it was possible to get a closer look at managers' first-hand experiences in private and public organizations, explore their feelings and encourage them more easily, avoid superficial answers, and research what they feel and experience every day at work. During the qualitative research process, data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Two organizations were included in the study – a public and a private one. Only the organizations with a minimum of five managers were eligible to participate in this study. Five interviews were conducted in each organization. It has been concluded that there are no significant differences between the organizations, which agrees with some professional findings that leadership as such is not only strongly conditioned by the organization’s source of funding but also by the environment’s cultural and social factors in which the organization operates. Research has shown that leadership is primarily a product of personality traits, of the leader’s attitude and skills, and, consequently, of their level of emotional intelligence, rather than a product of the organization and funding sources. This study is based on the leader's ability to self-assess leadership and reflect on their own experience with the work environment and colleagues. It presupposes that participants are being honest in their self-assessments. Further research would benefit from also including the employees of each organization in the survey.
