Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava likovni razvoj otrok in odraz vizualne kulture v otroških likovnih delih.

Title:Children's artistic development and reflection of visual culture in childrens artwork
Abstract:The master's thesis discusses artistic development of children and reflection of the visual culture in children’s artwork. For the purpose of the study the artworks of the pupils attending first and fifth grade of one of the Slovenian primary schools were analyzed in detail. The main purpose of the work was to identify the characteristics of the individual stages of artistic development in the artworks of the pupils included in the study and to compare them with the characteristics that were already perceived by art development researchers in the past. In addition to identifying the characteristics of artistic development, the purpose of the study was also to determine the reflection of visual culture in the pupils’ artworks and to compare the artistic motifs that pupils chose to depict according to their gander and their age. The results indicate that most of the previously described characteristics detected by art development researchers in the past can still be detected in the artworks of the pupils attending the first grade, but this cannot be said for the fifth grade pupils. An obvious reflection of visual culture was detected in the majority of the analyzed artworks of pupils of the both studied classes. Differences in the choice of art motifs were also detected according to the age of the pupils and according to their gender.
