Abstract:Geografski informacijski sistemi (GIS) so orodja s katerimi uporabnik zajema, shranjuje, obdeluje, analizira in prikazuje prostorske podatke.

Title:Spatio-Temporal changes in aboveground plant biomass in the area of lake ledava between 1980 and 2018
Abstract:Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are tools for capturing, storing, processing, analyzing and displaying spatial data. A prerequisite for spatial data manipulation is their digital format. The use of GIS is, among others suitable for the study of either anthropogenic or natural effects on the environment. Lake Ledava is an artificial reservoir, created between 1976 and 1977 by damming river Ledava, which is the second largest watercourse in Pomurje, after river Mura... The lake was created mainly as protection against floods after the extensive floods of town Murska Sobota in 1972. While the southern part of the water body is constricted by a concrete dam, the northern part of the reservoir, where river Ledava enters the lake, is completely subject to natural spatial dynamics. We investigated the change in aboveground plant biomass in the area of Ledava Lake by applying remote sensing technology. We utilized LANDSAT satellite imagery , airborne laser scanning data from the Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia and existing habitat maps. The results indicated that most aboveground plant biomass has developed in the first ten years, in the northern part, where river Ledava deposited alluvial sediments. The spatial overgrowing, or vegetation progression, trend was typically linear. However, based on our 2D and 3D spatial data, an increase in aboveground plant biomass has been detected practically in the entire research area, especially in the young and white willow habitat types.
