Abstract:Kdorkoli se pozimi zabava ali dela na snegu (žičničarji, oskrbniki koč, gozdarji, cestni in drugi delavci na terenu) se mora zavedati nevarnosti plazov in drugih snežnih pasti. Plazovi niso omejeni samo na strme in visoke gore, velika količina snega lahko pade tudi z ostrešij pod katerimi se pozimi igrajo otroci. Plazovi se pojavljajo kjerkoli je dovolj snega in dovolj strmo, to je lahko tudi le nekaj metrov od ceste, smučišča ali hiše. Osnovno zavedanje in prepoznavanje teh nevarnosti je ključnega pomena za široko populacijo ljudi, ki se stalno ali le začasno nahajajo v alpskem in drugih gorskih okoljih.

Title:Avalanches : The Basics of Snow Avalanche Dangers
Abstract:Anyone who either recreates or works in winter mountain environments has to be aware of avalanches and other dangers related to snow. Avalanches are not limited to steep, high mountain environments. A large amount of snow can also fall off roofs under which small children are playing care-free. Avalanches can happen anywhere there is enough snow on a steep enough slope, even a few steps away from seamingly safe roads, groomed ski runs and houses. Basic awareness and recognition of avalanche dangers is essential to a large population that permanently or just temporarily find themselves in Alpine and other mountain environments.
